Whatever is wrapped up in self is a small package. Unknown

The current rate of depression and then suicide in the society recently has made me so uncomfortable and I want to lend my voice in talking about this.

Life is precious, a gift, a privilege and an opportunity.

Sometimes we get beaten, so beaten we feel no hope, see no light and hear no one encouraging us to keep up the fight that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

It could be so dark and lonely sometimes especially when you have failed at many things.

I want to show you why you should hang on, fight, push, pull until you succeed at that thing depressing you right now.

2Cor.1.3 – All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us.
2Cor.1.4 – He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

You see, there are a lot of people waiting on you. Please see! So many people won’t make it if you don’t make it through this phase!

It’s your words, experience that will enable and encourage them to conquer it!

Don’t fail them!

See beyond your self!

Live beyond yourself!

I must add that depression is a spirit, a demonic spirit. It closes your eyes to the future, to this opportunity called life. It makes your past brighter than your future.

To conquer that devil? You must live beyond yourself.

Give! Yes give!

You want encouragement but it’s not coming? Give encouragement to someone!

It looks difficult right? Yes because humans are naturally selfish. To beat that devil to death and off your life.

Go out of your way and do what you want to receive. You want love, give love. You want encouragement, give it!

Don’t let that devil blind you! There’s still so much to live for!

God made you for much more than this!

Remember the earth is waiting for you to happen!

You may be under the earth now but I tell you, with God you have the power to break through the dirt and shine!

With all my love,

It’s been some time here. Trust you all are doing great. I have been doing fabulous, learning new crafts – making Auto Gele, fascinators, turbans, etc.

So I want to talk about something I see almost always in the gathering of believers. Last week I did a teaching in church about worship, the next day , while praying for a meeting, the Holyspirit started telling me about how systems usually conflict with his moves most times and this is caused by insensitivity of his ministers.

I think so I could have another taste of this thing, I went for a program last week and during the worship, oh the presence of the Holyspirit was manifest, oh my goodness, it was one of those presence that you know can cause anything to happen. And then suddenly, the person to take testimony came up and cut this flow off. I can’t begin to express how I felt. I felt like I was being dropped from a sky scrapper, I wanted to cry for what we were just denied of, oh.

I am writing this so that of you a minister or a believer who leads worship or a pastor, whoever you are, you must be sensitive to the spirit of God and his dealing in that place at that time.

We must create a balance between systems and the move of the spirit. We must learn to maximise the move of the spirit and not cut them short because of certain rules or systems we have put in place.

The people belong to God and we are servants he has sent to create an avenue or way where he can reach them. And when he comes, we begin to use our own system to stop him from reaching them.

Systems are good, great for administration and order but we must know when to suspend rules especially when the owner of those souls you want to administer is around.

1Tim.1.8 – We know these laws are good when they are used as God intended.

A working system is wonderful, makes things run smoothly without hitch. As efficient ministers we must be in tune with the one who has sent us at every given time. We are not here to propagate our own ideas, the people we are talking to are not ours, they don’t belong to us, so we must be in touch with the One who has sent us and to whom these people belong to.

For example, I know a church where it’s not a must to sing what we call dance-able songs for offering. In fact, it’s not a most to have offering at the time if it’s going g to obstruct what the Spirit is doing at that time. They can take offering at the door when church has dismissed. Particular sessions of service can be suspended or left out for that service if it’s going g to get in the way of God’s move.

Our systems and administration should be dynamic and be in tandem with the move of the Spirit.

God bless you.

Keep growing and glowing.

I love you immensely,

Olóri Olowo

Be You! Unique!

Finally, I think all men should go and find out what God has said and what He is saying about them now.

The frenzy with which we chase after certain things would vanish.
The urge or desire to compete with others will disappear.
You will just discover that worry has no hold over you.

You become bold. You accept yourself because you start to realize that you are unique and nobody can be like you, do it like you, smile like, eat like you, talk like you, reason like you, see it like you, etc.

You become whole. You become you! 😀

Find out what God is saying.
I am a firm believer that God speaks to His children.

With all my love

It’s been some time here right, I know and I want to talk about it with you my dear reader. I promise, it’s going to be a short read.

So for days I have been feeling odd and out of sorts with myself, at the end of the day I seem not to be satisfied as I fell I have not really achieved much during the day.

As a newly married lady, having resigned from my previous job to join my husband in another state, I just stay home because is a new environment and all. I am used to a very busy life and here I am married, in another location and plenty of time to myself.

Yeah you would easily say “wow, you’ve got a lot of time to develop yourself and do many things for yourself”, but is it really that easy? It wasn’t for me, sincerely. I have tried a lot of things, time table for myself, motivate myself, etc, but it didn’t work.

I got really fed up when yesterday I was on my phone till about 12 noon, left to do some laundry and came by 2pm and was on my phone till 4pm! I wasn’t wasting my time on social media o, the only thing I did on social media was to update my Linkedin profile and the rest were on research on many other things I would like to go into in the nearest future. The thing is, I had just created another timetable for myself just that morning and I blew it, I didn’t follow it!! I did other stuff. And at the end of the day, I knew something was wrong with me!

It doesn’t sound serious right? The thing is I know in my spirit that something isn’t right. So I prayed about it this morning and it was as though the Holy Spirit was waiting for me to ask and he led me to read a scripture passage I felt I know.

Galatians 5: 16 – 25

Gal.5.16 – So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Gal.5.17 – The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict.

Gal.5.18 – But when you are directed by the Holy Spirit, you are no longer subject to the law.

Gal.5.19 – When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure,

Gal.5.20 – idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group,

Gal.5.21 – envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Gal.5.22 – But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Gal.5.23 – gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

Gal.5.24 – Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

Gal.5.25 – If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives

Looking at this scripture, I discovered where I had gotten it all wrong.

Verse 16 says “ So I say live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature” and verse 18a says “ But if you are led by the Spirit…

The reason why it seems like I am confused, I don’t achieve much with my time is because I have stopped living by the Spirit. It sounds scary right or untrue but that is what it is!

Even if it is just for a day, living without consciously yielding to the Holy spirit can leave wondering if you lost a limb.

And because I have stopped living by the Spirit, I lost control of myself.

Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit.

Gal 5:22-23 says

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

It is a function of the Spirit of God in me. I conquer the flesh by the power of the Spirit. Lack of self control is a sign of a dysfunctional relationship with the Holy Spirit. Yes I said that! 😀

2Timothy 1:7 says

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-control.

Living by the Spirit is continuous and conscious. Gal 5:25 says

If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

I am writing this right now because I am daring to live by the Spirit. I want a fulfilled day and that’s why I am yielding to the Holy spirit. I choose to be Spirit-Led and Spirit-Controlled.

Thank you for reading, please do drop your comments, I would love to hear from you. How do you conquer yourself?

All my love…

Marriage, a calling also

I am getting married!!!

Yeah. One moment am super excited 💃💃💃 and then the next, I feel like saying ‘OK people, let’s stop here, I don’t want any change in my life, can things still be the same? Oh my gosh’. 😬 Am I alone in this? Ever felt so as the day of your wedding drew closer?

Maybe some people will say they never felt that way at all, in fact maybe they looked forward to their wedding day with so much enthusiasm and didn’t have any cold feet. Well, am happy for you.

Why am I having cold feet? I had to ask my self. Am I being selfish or short sighted? Am I loosing sight of the reason for my marriage? These questions and more crossed my mind.

My friend the Holy Spirit brought some answers that eased my fears and that’s what I want to share with you today.

You see, there’s this notion that some ladies who were actively doing ministry, I mean preaching and winning souls with passion suddenly become cold after getting married. Then people ask why, what happened to all their fire and passion they demonstrated when they were single ladies.
You see, I don’t want anything like that to happen to me, thanks to God who brought light to me on the matter. Follow me😃.

It’s a calling

First, you must understand that marriage is a calling, it’s a ministry! The problem some ladies have sometimes is that they think marriage is separate from their service to God. They think ‘this is different ‘. Another group will think ‘we have served God when we are single, now let me relax and face my marriage’, another group become very overwhelmed with the excitement, preparations and attention from everyone. You know, everyone starts looking at you as the bride other a lot of woooows and hooooooo. Enjoy it while it last but don’t forget why you are going through that phase…

It’s a platform

to do ministry effectively and efficiently. Ofcourse, scripture says two are better than one and they have a better reward for their labour.

Am going to stop here, will continue to share my experiences as the journey begins.

Stay at the top! I love you !

I know that the excitement that comes with the new year is probably ebbing little by little. You are are beginning to wonder where all that giddy feeling has gone. For some, they are back to the reality of their lives. The feeling is mutual lol. 😀

On my previous post, I started talking about goal setting as one of the tools that will keep you focused this year, remember we don’t work by feelings but by knowledge. I promised to write on how to set goals and factors that can help you accomplish your goals, So here we go…

It is not enough to set goals to so you can feel good or be among those who know what’s up. Goals without a means or strategy to fulfill them are a waste of time. So when you set goals in these areas of your life, make sure that you also write down the strategy you would use in achieving those goals. One of the methods which some people call the characteristics of a goal is the acronym SMART which stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable / Achievable, Realistic and Time bound. Your goals should meet these criteria.

I will highlight on just three factors that can help you accomplish your goals these year.

  • The God Factor – really you can’t do without this factor as a child of God.

Proverbs 16:3, 9 says “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

“In his heart a man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps”

  • Accountability – don’t be that fellow that has no mentor or anyone to hold him accountable for the goals you have set. Don’t be that person who has nobody to ask him about the goals he has set for himself. Get people who will able make you be on your toes in achieving your goals. Get a mentor or a discipler.

Proverbs 15:22 says ” plans fail for lack of counsel but with many advisers they succeed. “

  • Self discipline – this is one quality you must work at if you must achieve much this year. The ability to do what you are supposed to do when you should do it no matter the excuse that you want to come up with. Pursuit is the evidence of desire. you can’t tell me who want something and I can’t see the discipline of pursuit – how you task yourself and push yourself and accept no excuse from yourself.

I wish you a very fulfilling year. I know all the prayers you have made are answered but you have a responsibility.

Stay at the top! I love you !!

Happy New Year! Happy New Year!! Rang in the air with screams, dance and shouts of fireworks. The environment was electrifying with everyone happy including you. You were happy and grateful to see the New Year 2019. The 19th year of the 21st century! I say to you also, welcome to the New Year.
You probably shouted the happy new year in church just like I did with prayer to our God and keeper to guide us and help us in the coming year. Guess what, he has heard and answered. In fact before you went to pray for the new year, as His child, he has made everything you need for the new year and every day of your life available. 2 Peter 1:3 says

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called is by his own glory and goodness.”

So you see, as God’s child, God has got your back. What then should you do as someone who God has plans for? God has plans for you in this new year just as Jeremiah 29: 11 tells us but what is your responsibility towards yourself in the new year? I know you also have plans, goals and ambitions for yourself, you want this year to be better than the last, you want results, you want success. How do you achieve this? I will tell you, just read on. I know you need this.

Yes you heard me right. This is one of the keys God expects you to use to achieve success this year. I am not talking about New Year resolutions. I know about new year resolutions that never crosses into the second month of the year. I used to have that every new year until I discovered what I was doing wrong.
Goal setting is the development of an action plan designed to motivate and guide a person or group toward a goal.

Why should I plan since God knows all things? First, Planning is God’s plan. We should plan our lives according to God’s will. It’s a responsibility you owe yourself in order to fulfill the plans of God for your life, Genesis 1: 26 – 28.

Proverbs 16: 1 says “To man belong the plans of the heart, but from God comes the reply of the tongue”. God expects you to plan!

Secondly, the execution of the plan God has for you belongs to you. When we pray we download God’s plans that has always been there Jeremiah 1: 5. So you set your goals and plans according to God’s plans for your life.

You are here on earth on assignment! God didn’t place you on earth to waste time. Every area of your life should be geared towards achieving that ultimate goal, Genesis 1: 26 – 28. I trust you know that your dream to be the best Doctor, Fashion Designer, Music Artist, Actress, Teacher, Banker, Artist, Lawyer, Engineer, etc. is in order to achieve the Genesis 1:28 assignments. So you must set goals for every area of your life such as;

Faith – this includes your spiritual life and it’s the foundation of every other area
Future – this includes those goals that will help your long term goals come to pass.
Fitness – you have a body and a mind that needs to keep fit. Exercise your mind and body.
Finance – financial goals, plan for your income and how you intend to spend it.
Facts or career – plan for the job you do, how you intend to be better at what you do.
Friends – company is very important to destiny fulfillment. Is your network helping you fulfill your destiny? If not, do the needful.
Family – you are a very important part of a body, both spiritual and biological family, how do you intend to spend time and resources with them and contribute to their growth.

In my next post, am going to talk about how to set goals and factors that can help you accomplish your goals.

Remain blessed and I love you. Keep reading!!
